Time for all wound specialties to come together as one family

01 April 2024

Dear readers, it gives me great privilege in welcoming you to our Journal of Wound Care (JWC) Silk Road Supplement as the new President of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS). The handover ceremony was held in the Abu Dhabi Convention Centre on 10 March 2024. Allow me to congratulate Ms. Gulnaz Tariq for steering the WUWHS through the pandemic.

The Presidency of the WUWHS is not a promotion but a great responsibility. The legacy we leave will impact the lives of our patients and wound care professionals for years to come. We now move forward for the next four years with the silver jubilee celebrations which will be held on 23–27 September 2024. The Executive Board has been appointed and the International Committee members will be formalised soon, in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation. We wish to include all societies dealing with wounds in the WUWHS. It is time that all of the specialties came together in one great big family. I hope more programmes can be organised in the next four years to strengthen wound management across the globe and maintain standard of care with good access. In addition, evidence-based research has to be conducted to monitor outcomes, cost-effectiveness, burden and impact on patients' lives.
